Application of Wisconsin Public Service Corporation for Authority to Adjust Electric and Natural Gas Rates
If you’re a Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) customer, or if you care about energy affordability, it’s time to make your voice heard. WPS, an investor-owned utility serving primarily northeastern and north central Wisconsin, has proposed its third rate increase in the past three years—and it’s a big one!

Application for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity of Vista Sands Solar to Construct a Photovoltaic Electric Generating Facility, a Battery Energy Storage System, Collector and Project Substations
The Vista Sands Solar Farm is a utility-scale renewable energy project proposed in Portage County by Doral Renewables, LLC, located on what is currently conventional agricultural land near the towns of Plover, Buena Vista, and Grant. At nearly 1,300 megawatts, the Vista Sands Solar Farm would be Wisconsin's largest renewable energy project to date – with a 4.7% reduction in our state’s emissions! With its substantial benefits to the climate, local community, economy, land, and water, we need to ensure the PSC approves the Vista Sands Solar Farm!

Application of Wisconsin Power and Light Company for a Certificate of Authority to Construct and Operate the Riverside Enhancement Project
Wisconsin Power and Light (WPL) – a subsidiary of Alliant Energy – is seeking approval to construct and operate the “Riverside Enhancement Project,” a new power plant that would generate electricity fueled by fossil gas located at Alliant’s Riverside Energy Center. The cost of this $52.78 million project would fall on already energy-burdened ratepayers. Alliant has repeatedly come to the PSC asking for rate increases in recent years, exacerbating the existing energy burden in the community. With Beloit’s air quality already being the worst measured in the entire country, a new plant would be detrimental to the community. We cannot accept any new fossil fuel infrastructure, especially not at the expense of Alliant ratepayers and Beloit residents!

Fossil Gas Plants - Milwaukee area
Wisconsin Electric Power Company (WEPCO) – more commonly known as We Energies – is seeking approval to convert two of its older coal-burning plants, the Elm Road Generating Station in Oak Creek and the Paris Generating Station in Kenosha, into natural gas plants – also known as fossil gas. WEC is petitioning for We Energies ratepayers’ to pay for these facilities. We should not be building new fossil fuel infrastructure, especially not at the expense of already-burdened ratepayers!

We Energies Rate Case - 2024
In April, Wisconsin Electric Power Company (commonly known as We Energies) filed a request to raise residential rates – again. This would be its third rate increase in the past three years. Coupled with We Energies’ new gas plant proposals, and an incomplete and slow-moving affordability program investigation at the PSC, We Energies rate payers are at risk for even more severe energy burden impacts.
